Mainly Coasters, Mainly Local

Pete Evans was born in Cheltenham and lived first in Gloucester Road near Lansdown Station, with the route of the former Gloucester and Cheltenham Tramroad passing at the rear of the house. His elder brother Terry, was very interested in railways and he soon followed and the love of steam, particularly locomotives and engineering in general, has never left him.

After serving his apprenticeship in the printing trade, and working in in the industry for a time, Pete took a job in the early 1980s with the British Waterways Board in the Sharpness area. He soon became very interested in the local shipping scene and set about photographing as much as he could, the accompanying photos being the result.
